Abstract: 

Developing a mathematical model for the artificial generation of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals is a subject that has been widely investigated. One of its uses is for the assessment of diagnostic ECG signal processing devices. So the model should have the capability of producing a wide range of ECG signals, with all the nuances that reflect the sickness to which humans are prone, and this would necessarily include variations in heart rate variability (HRV). In this paper we present a comprehensive model for generating such artificial ECG signals. We incorporate into our model the effects of respiratory sinus arrhythmia, Mayer waves and the important very low frequency component in the power spectrum of HRV. We use the new Modified Zeeman model for generating the time series for HRV, and a single cycle of ECG is produced using a radial basis function neural network.

Abstract: 

Plant development can be defined as a programmed qualitative change in plant form, which leads plant to maturity, and researchers call it as phasic development or phenology. Recognizing the timing of occurring each development stage is necessary for managing system in order to yield increment. The timing of occurring development stages depend on climate, genotype specifications and sowing date then determination of these times in different regions is difficult and it is only possible through the using of crop simulation models which can predict the timing of occurrence each development stage by integrating effective factors. The model was constructed based on linear equation of plant temperature response. In order to model evaluation two experiments were carried out in agricultural and natural resources research center of Khuzistan in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 cropping years. Wheat development stages were determined based on Kirby and Appleyard’s scale by stereoscopic microscope and required GDD for each development stage as well. The constructed model was calibrated and run for simulation. Comparison of simulated and observed data showed that the model can strongly predict wheat development stages.

Abstract: 

Background: Role of anesthesiologist is important in difficult intubation and laryngoscopy and the role of an expert assistant performing the required maneuvers is important as well. Nevertheless, these maneuvers cannot be efficient during intubation in some cases because of inadequate experience of assistants. Therefore, in this study we compared the degree of laryngoscopic view and intubation condition using BURP and Modified BURP maneuvers. Methods: Patients were randomly divided into two groups of study based on entering to the operation room. Premedication and induction of anesthesia were performed similarly in both groups. Later, laryngoscopy and intubation were performed. In control group, anesthesiologist recorded the visualized degree. Assistant was asked to perform maneuvers to improve laryngoscopic view. In case group, after recording the initial laryngoscopic view, anesthesiologist improved laryngoscopic view by his right hand and asked his assistant to intubate the patient. Then degree of improvement of visualization and success of intubation in two groups were compared. Results: The mean time required for intubation was significantly more in the control group (P<0. 001). In case group, laryngoscopic view improved significantly more than the control group (P=0. 005). Nevertheless, the success of intubation was equal in both groups with no significant difference. Conclusion: Findings of this study indicate that Modified BURP provides better view of laryngoscopy compared to BURP. Both methods and maneuvers are equally effective regarding the success of intubation.

Abstract: 

Variable fill fluid couplings are used in the speed control units. Also, variation in coupling oil volume is used in adapting one size of coupling to a wider range of power transmission applications. Available model for the partially filled fluid couplings, has a good performance for couplings with fixed amount of oil but their performance will be degraded if they are used for the variable fill couplings. In this paper, the current model for partially filled fluid couplings is Modified to have better performance for variable fill couplings. For this purpose, the circulation loss calculation is Modified and also, the effect of oil temperature variations and blade thickness are included in the model. The effect of these modification on the model performance are investigated in couple of simulations. Comparing the simulation results with the available experimental data shows that the suggested modifications can improve the model performance very well.

Abstract: 

The present multidisciplinary study focuses on providing a model for magnetorheological dampers. First, it presented a brief look at the existing models of such dampers, and then to achieve an invertible, efficient, and at the same time simple model, the Kwok model has been selected and has changed appropriately. A new identification algorithm based on meta-heuristic methods has been proposed to identify the model, which has used periodic excitation. This algorithm has high detection capability with the minimum necessary tests. To evaluate the proposed model and identification method, a large-scale magnetorheological damper, which is placed as a black box model in the benchmark baseisolated building introduced by the US Structural Control Committee, has been used as a virtual laboratory. The whole process has been investigated in the Simulink environment of MATLAB. The performance of the proposed model was compared with the original one under seven near-fault earthquakes. The results show that the Modified Kwok model is more accurate than the original one. It can predict force-displacement and force-velocity behaviors correctly. Also, since the proposed model is invertible, it is easily applicable in practical issues of structural control. It provides the possibility of managing control devices, so is superior to the Kwok model.

Abstract: 

Amid the previous three decades, the topic of image processing has gained vital name and recognition among researchers because of their frequent look in varied and widespread applications within the field of various branches of science and engineering. As an example, image processing is helpful to issues in signature recognition, digital video processing, remote sensing and finance. Image processing models are used for detecting the face. The aim of this thesis is to solve the face-detection in the first attempt using the Haar-cascade classifier from images containing simple and complex backgrounds. It is one of the preeminent detectors in terms of reliability and speed. We introduced a new method to deal with the frontal face images by using a Modified Haar cascade algorithm. By using this algorithm, we can detect the image as well as the coordinates. The main attraction of this paper is to solve different types of images having one object, two objects, and three objects which can’ t be solved by any of the existing methods but can be solved by our proposed method.

Abstract: 

Today, one of the most widely used natural language representation methods is meaning representation for text processing in different systems. Meaning representation methods have had many applications in the field of natural language processing in recent years, including automatic text summarization systems and question and answer systems, etc. Many text expressions may be different in terms of grammatical structure, but they are the same in terms of meaning, so how to apply a single and uniform meaning to them is one of the challenges of text processing. The main goal of this paper is to design an Integrated Semantic Representation (ISR) model for natural language. The proposed model, while maintaining its simplicity in annotation and understanding, does not depend on specific natural language features or on syntactic and lexical structure. In this regard, several examples in both English and Persian language, which have different in terms of written and grammatical structure, are presented in this paper. Moreover, by using the proposed model, the same representation is provided for texts with the same meaning and different grammatical structure. The proposed model is designed in graph and list format is recommended to annotate its corpuses. One of the main features of this model is that it can represent semantic relations at both sentence-level and document-level and is able to represent complex and important linguistic phenomena such as aspect, tense, and quantification. The simplicity of the proposed model helps to avoid making language processing slow or complicated in various applications, and the preparation of structures based on this model for different natural languages will not be too complicated, so that it can be used both for natural languages with low resources and for those with various resources. Further, features of the proposed model are compared with one of the most important related works.
